Museum of Tyrolean Farmhouses

The largest open-air museum in Tyrol

The open-air museum east of Lake Reintal gives a fascinating insight into Tyrol's past. Farmhouses and farm buildings from all corners of the German-speaking Alps have been transported and re-erected here, true to the originals. The buildings once occupied by farmers, cottagers, labourers and craftsmen have, over the course of time, also been authentically furnished.

The Museum of Tyrolean Farmhouses "New insights into old Tyrol": under this motto and to mark the museum's 40th anniversary, the silent exhibits were brought to life in various ways. Video installations bring life to the interiors, pavilions open up new views and fascinating information boards give an idea of the history of the farms.

Sculpture Park

A fine example of symbiosis between art and nature on the Brandenberg River

The Sculpture Park on the Brandenberg River, near the Mariathal Basilica, is a unusual exhibition area for which we have the Kramsach artist Alois Schild to thank. In an area of 8,000 square metres the large statues from Gironcoli's student appear like strange beings surrounded by unspoilt nature.

The link between nature and art is unique here and it is open free of charge to visitors all year.

Mariathal Basilica

Church of Pilgrimage in Mariathal

The Parish Church of St Dominic is situated in Mariathal at the start of the Brandenberg Valley.

The baroque style church was made a basilica by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009. Its attractive baroque architecture has a particularly notable black and gold interior.

The Stations of the Cross are along the old monastery wall up to Kalvarenberg. The 12 Stations were created by the artist Birgit Riedel.

Schnaps Tasting at Kohlerhof

At Kohlerhof Farm tastings are offered for groups of 3 or more people in a separate room.

Heilwasserbrunnen

Fountain combinig marble, brass and glass

The healing water flows naturally from a depth of 1,600m to the surface, where it is collected in a mineral water fountain. The water can be bottled and used for a range of treatments. It has confirmed healing and beneficial effects.

The fountain is also a destination and starting point for nine circular walks. The route from the Kramsach Lakes via Mariathal to Tiefenbach Gorge takes a good two-and-a-half hours. A new 'Heilwasserweg' has been designed to take walkers on a trail of ancient legends and myths related to water.
